ICEA and Caret Capital Collaborate to Introduce Global Startup Technology to Indian Electronics Manufacturers

India relaxes SEZ regulations to enhance semiconductor and electronics production.
India Cellular & Electronics Association (ICEA) and venture capital firm Caret Capital announced the establishment of Venture Access Labs on Wednesday — a platform designed to link domestic electronics and appliances with innovative startups and pioneers globally.

Venture Access Labs (VAL) has been co-founded and will be led by industry expert Salil Kapoor, who will serve as the Chief Mentor. Salil brings extensive experience from leadership positions at companies such as Voltas, LG, Samsung, and Blue Star.

VAL aims to connect Indian enterprises with innovators in cutting-edge technologies like advanced manufacturing, AI, IoT, energy efficiency, and materials science. The goal of VAL is to create a network of global universities, startups, large corporations, R&D labs, and innovation centers focused on these technologies.
“With Venture Access Labs, ICEA is excited to promote and harness global innovation to bolster India’s position as a worldwide hub for manufacturing and electronics, with the vision of developing Indian Champions,” stated Pankaj Mohindroo, Chairman of ICEA.

“By facilitating access to international technological innovations and establishing an innovation pipeline, we aspire to enhance India’s electronics manufacturing capabilities and competitiveness on a global scale, thus capturing a larger market share.”

“Now is the moment for Indian electronics and appliances manufacturing to shift towards tech-first global leadership. Venture Access Labs will provide a reverse mentoring and deep engagement ecosystem, linking Indian manufacturers with global tech leaders and top disruptors,” mentioned Salil Kapoor, Co-founder and Chief Mentor of Venture Access Labs.

“VAL will act as the innovation catalyst and partner, identifying and curating the latest technologies and groundbreaking startups from around the world for Indian manufacturing companies to collaborate with, significantly reducing costs compared to self-driven initiatives.”
