“I Will Rise to the Occasion”: Congress MP Shashi Tharoor on His Crucial Involvement in India’s Diplomatic Efforts Regarding Operation Sindoor

Is Shashi Tharoor Facing Expulsion? Congress Adopts a Wait-and-See Approach
A seven-member delegation is set to visit key partner nations later this month to seek diplomatic backing for India’s ongoing efforts against cross-border terrorism. On Saturday, the government designated Congress MP Shashi Tharoor as one of the seven leaders selected to advocate for India’s stance against terrorism post-Operation Sindoor.

In a post on X, Tharoor conveyed his appreciation for the government’s invitation, emphasizing his willingness to serve when national interests are at stake.

“I am privileged to receive the invitation of the government of India to lead an all-party delegation to five important capitals, to present our nation’s perspective on recent developments. When national interests are at stake and my assistance is needed, I will not hesitate. Jai Hind!” he expressed.

However, his name was not included in the four candidates that the Congress Party proposed for the diplomatic outreach delegation. On X, Congress leader Jairam Ramesh stated that the suggested list included Anand Sharma, a former Cabinet Minister, Gaurav Gogoi, Deputy Leader of the party in the Lok Sabha, Dr. Syed Naseer Hussain, a Rajya Sabha MP, and Raja Brar, Lok Sabha MP.

Earlier, the Ministry of Parliamentary Affairs released a statement announcing the seven-member team that will visit prominent partner countries, including members of the UN Security Council. “The All-Party Delegations aim to showcase India’s national consensus and determined approach to combating terrorism in all forms. They will convey the country’s steadfast message of zero tolerance towards terrorism,” the official statement read.

It further highlighted that each delegation will consist of Members of Parliament from different parties, notable political figures, and esteemed diplomats. Besides Tharoor, the MPs leading the seven delegations include BJP leader Ravi Shankar Prasad, JDU leader Sanjay Kumar Jha, BJP leader Baijayant Panda, DMK leader Kanimozhi, NCP (SP) leader Supriya Sule, and Shiv Sena leader Shrikant Eknath Shinde.

In a post on X, Union Minister Kiren Rijiju stated that India is united, with seven all-party delegations set to visit critical partner nations. “In moments of greatest importance, Bharat stands united. Seven All-Party Delegations will soon visit key partner nations, delivering our unified message of zero tolerance towards terrorism. A powerful testament to national unity transcending politics and differences,” he remarked.

The tour is scheduled to span ten days, commencing on May 23. The delegations are expected to visit several major world capitals, including the United States, the United Kingdom, the UAE, South Africa, and Japan.
