Badri, who serves as SVP and Head of Supply Chain, Customer Experience & Re-Commerce at Flipkart, will concentrate on pinpointing and implementing business use cases where AI can have the most significant impact, collaborating with Balaji Thiagarajan, who will continue to steer the strategic direction for the One Tech organization and oversee technology strategy and engineering efforts for an AI-native Flipkart.
Krishnamurthy’s message to employees, which was reviewed by PTI, stressed the importance of leveraging AI to “lead in the next decade” as the industry’s landscape rapidly changes.
A request for comments sent to Flipkart via email went unanswered.
In his message to staff, Krishnamurthy announced: “To accelerate this with speed and scale, I am excited to share that Hemant Badri will head this vital ‘AI Transformation Charter.’ This adds to his existing roles in Supply Chain, Minutes, CX, and Recommerce”.
An AI-first approach at Flipkart entails placing intelligent systems at the heart of all developments, he elaborated.
“It signifies a more intuitive customer experience, enhanced seller tools for efficient growth, and improved internal productivity where AI manages routine tasks, allowing teams to concentrate on innovation,” he stated.
He also noted that technology cannot supplant the intuition developed over the years, advocating for a human-in-the-loop methodology.
“It will refine it. Maintaining a ‘human-in-the-loop’ approach ensures our technology is aligned with the needs of our customers and sellers,” Krishnamurthy remarked.
Labeling this as a broader organizational transformation, he emphasized it will necessitate ownership across various functions and teams.
“Hemant possesses the operational depth required to actualize AI throughout the organization. He will prioritize identifying and operationalizing the business use cases where AI can create the most impact, in collaboration with Balaji Thiagarajan,” the CEO of Flipkart stated.
