Harvey Weinstein found guilty of sexual assault in a split decision.
Harvey Weinstein was found guilty of sexual assault in New York for the second time on Wednesday, although he was acquitted of an additional sexual assault charge. Jurors are continuing their deliberations regarding a rape charge.

The 12-member Manhattan jury—comprising seven men and five women—delivered the partial verdict after five days of deliberation. Weinstein clasped his hands together, resting his head upon them as the verdict was announced.

The charge of criminal sexual act for which he was convicted carries a maximum sentence of 25 years. This conviction originates from allegations that he forced oral sex on former production assistant Miriam Haley. He was also found guilty of assaulting Haley during his 2020 trial.

The acquittal relates to a claim made by a new accuser who did not testify in the first trial. The accuser, model Kaja Sokola, stated that Weinstein forced oral sex on her while she was trying to break into acting.

The jury is still deliberating on a charge involving the rape of former aspiring actress Jessica Mann. Weinstein was convicted of raping Mann during the 2020 trial. This mixed, partial verdict followed a chaotic morning in the courtroom.

The jury was sent home for the day after the foreperson reported being threatened by another juror. The judge indicated that the jurors required a cooling-off period before resuming.
