Gill excluded, Ishan Kishan reinstated as Suryakumar Yadav appointed captain for India in the 2026 T20 World Cup.
Shubman Gill has not made it to India’s 15-member squad for the 2026 T20 World Cup, which was revealed in Mumbai on Saturday. Ishan Kishan, however, has been recalled following his impressive performance with Jharkhand in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy.

Suryakumar Yadav has been named captain of the team, with Axar Patel taking on the role of vice-captain after missing the last two T20Is against South Africa. Sanju Samson, who participated in the series decider, joins Kishan as the second wicketkeeper and may return to the opening position alongside Abhishek Sharma due to Gill’s exclusion.

Rinku Singh, known for his pivotal role in the Asia Cup final and as a standby during India’s victorious 2024 T20 World Cup campaign, has also secured a spot in the squad.

The bowling unit will be led by Jasprit Bumrah, with Arshdeep Singh and Harshit Rana providing pace support. Varun Chakravarthy and Kuldeep Yadav will be the key figures in the spin department. All-rounders Hardik Pandya and Axar Patel will add depth to the team as India prepares for the global event.

Squad: Suryakumar Yadav (C), Abhishek Sharma, Sanju Samson (WK), Tilak Verma, Hardik Pandya, Shivam Dube, Axar Patel (VC), Rinku Singh, Jasprit Bumrah, Harshit Rana, Arshdeep Singh, Kuldeep Yadav, Varun Chakravarthy, Washington Sundar, Ishan Kishan (WK)
