Since their launch in 1992, the FIFA Rankings have typically been released after the conclusion of international game windows. However, this month, they will be updated provisionally in real time as national teams compete around the world.
The FIFA Rankings, first introduced in 2003, will see live updates introduced during the April international window.
The foundational formula for the rankings will remain unchanged. However, it will now be applied as verified goal information comes in, providing immediate insights into how shifts in the scoreline impact a team’s ranking.
This update will encompass not only FIFA tournaments but also approved senior men’s and women’s international matches.
The live ranking will be provisional and will not be finalized until all matches in the international window are completed. Once that period concludes, the official rankings will be published on the FIFA website.
