Taking place on June 21, July 26, and August 23, Baarish intends to reignite the emotional and sensory bonds with the rains through a thoughtful fusion of sound, performance, visuals, and culinary delights.
“Designed to encourage attendees to celebrate the monsoon, the evening will feature a Megh Malhar invocation alongside a santoor performance. The palace will be filled with interactive installations, a monsoon-thali by Café Lota, and an immersive discussion led by art historian Eric Chopra on the theme of monsoon in Indian artistry,” stated Minhal Hasan, Founder of Excurators.

Hasan characterized the event as something beyond mere celebration: “Baarish aspires to document the season through experience, emotion, and memory – fostering dialogue, reflection, and a joyful celebration of rain.”
The experience will commence at the entrance with an installation that blends soundscapes, ambient visuals, and mist, crafted to envelop visitors in the essence of the monsoon. The inaugural act will be a musical collaboration featuring Ashim Berry, Lalit Kumar, Kumar Sarang, and Anant Raina, who will merge santoor, tabla, and vocals in a meditative tribute to the rains.
A highlight of the event includes an illustrated talk titled “Moods of Megh – Monsoon in Indian Art,” presented by art historian Eric Chopra. He will delve into medieval artworks such as Abhisarika Nayika, Madhumadhavi Ragini, and noteworthy pieces by Manaku, exploring the monsoon’s lasting significance in Indian visual culture as a symbol of yearning, spiritual awakening, and poetic grace.

Another anticipated feature is The Baarish Ensemble, highlighting Mooralala Marwada, whose folk-influenced vocals will be reinterpreted by a modern collective of musicians including Anirban Ghosh, Yusra Naqvi, Diyatom, Nikhil, Pranay, Subhankar, and Vaibhav. Their performance will create a rich auditory tapestry that pays tribute to the spiritual and emotional depth of Marwada’s music.
The event will also showcase a specially curated menu by Café Lota, presenting monsoon-inspired dishes that highlight local ingredients and seasonal tastes. Each dish is crafted to evoke the warmth and nostalgia associated with rain-drenched days.
Through its multisensory approach, Baarish promises to weave together memory and imagination, inviting attendees to rediscover the monsoon through culture, cuisine, and conversation.
