US markets LIVE: Bitcoin declines overnight as tensions in Iran stir crypto markets
Bitcoin fell nearly 2% overnight as the conflict between the US and Israel against Iran unsettled risk-sensitive investors in a volatile market. The cryptocurrency was priced at $68,356, down 1.77% as of approximately 5:30 PM IST. As the largest cryptocurrency, Bitcoin saw a drop of up to 2.2%, trading near $68,800 on Tuesday afternoon in Singapore, reversing gains from the prior day. The token had momentarily exceeded $70,000 on Monday for the first time since March. Other digital currencies were similarly affected, with Ether, the second-largest cryptocurrency, declining by as much as 2.8%.
“Investor sentiment around Bitcoin remains negative in the short to medium term,” reported Rachael Lucas, an analyst at BTC Markets, as quoted by Yahoo Finance. She emphasized that investors are mostly in a wait-and-see stance, with bullish traders lacking the confidence to drive prices upward and bearish investors unable to instigate a significant downturn.
