Congress removes Madhya Pradesh leader and Digvijaya Singh's sibling from party for six years.
The Congress has expelled former Madhya Pradesh MLA Laxman Singh from the party’s primary membership for six years due to “anti-party activities”.

Laxman is the sibling of prominent Congress figure and former Madhya Pradesh chief minister Digvijaya Singh.

“Congress President has removed Laxman Singh, former MLA from Madhya Pradesh, from the primary membership of the Indian National Congress for a duration of six years with immediate effect because of his anti-party actions,” Tariq Anwar, member secretary of the Congress’ Disciplinary Action Committee, stated in a press release.

This decision followed a recommendation from the state PCC to the Congress leadership to initiate action against him.

Laxman has served as a five-time MP and three-time MLA in Madhya Pradesh. He first entered the state legislature in 1990 and was elected as an MP from Rajgarh for the first time in 1994.

He switched to the BJP in 2004 when he was elected to the Lok Sabha, but he made a return to the Congress party in 2013.
