The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) elections are set for January 15, 2026, with the vote counting scheduled for January 16, as declared by the State Election Commission.

The nomination period is from December 23 to December 30, followed by affidavit scrutiny on December 31.

Nominations can be withdrawn until January 2, 2026, and election symbols will be assigned by January 3, 2026, along with the final candidate list.
The term for BMC corporators ended in 2022, but elections were postponed due to legal complications concerning reservations.

In addition to BMC, 28 other municipal corporations across Maharashtra will also hold elections on January 15, with voting counts on January 16.

The SEC has indicated that elections will be held for 2,869 seats.

Approximately 3.48 crore voters are eligible to participate in the Maharashtra local body elections, as stated by Maharashtra State Election Commissioner Dinesh Waghmare.

Significant civic bodies, including Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, Nagpur, Nashik, and Pune, along with Mumbai, Navi Mumbai, and Thane, will also be polling on January 15.
