Ben Stokes Discusses the Significance of Managing England Cricket Team's Drinking Culture
England cricket captain Ben Stokes has stood by his team following accusations of excessive drinking during their trip to Noosa, amidst what has been a challenging Ashes tour. On Wednesday, Stokes faced numerous questions regarding the inquiry by the England and Cricket Board (ECB) into concerns about the squad’s drinking behaviors.

This follows the emergence of a viral video featuring England Test opener Ben Duckett, who appeared to be inebriated and lost while trying to locate the team hotel. The ECB has initiated an investigation into the incident.

In the now-popular videos, Duckett looks disoriented and heavily intoxicated, pleading for assistance to find his way back.
Stokes, while not directly referencing the Duckett video, emphasized his primary concern for the well-being of his teammates when questioned about their actions.

During a press conference ahead of the Boxing Day Test, he stated, “How I manage this situation at the moment is crucial to me. The welfare of everyone involved, along with certain individuals, is my top priority as England captain.”

Stokes deflected inquiries about the team’s behavior in Noosa, focusing instead on the upcoming two Tests, as he aims to secure a positive outcome from the Australian tour.

“Caring for my players is essential, and our goal is to win these two matches. I understand how such matters can impact individuals, and I will always strive to protect my players,” he expressed, as reported by Fox Sports.

“This isn’t the conclusion of our tour. There are still two significant matches ahead. Although we may not return to the UK accomplishing our original objectives, wearing the three lions on our shirts represents everyone who has played before us and those who will follow, as well as our fans and supporters,” he continued.

“I’m highly motivated to leave Australia with something positive to reflect on, and we have the chance in the upcoming two games to achieve that,” Stokes remarked.

Australia has established a commanding 3-0 lead in the Ashes 2025 series. The two teams will next meet for the Boxing Day Test on December 26 at the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG).

The Australians have rested captain Pat Cummins, with Steve Smith returning to lead the team after his absence in the last Test.
