Bajaj Auto unveils Chetak C25, aiming to dominate the e-scooter industry.
Bajaj Auto’s electric scooter Chetak has quickly become a familiar name across the nation, with the company striving for the top position in the e-scooter market both domestically and internationally, Rishabh Bajaj, General Manager for EV and two and three-wheelers at Bajaj Auto, stated on Wednesday.

He also mentioned that the company is focusing on localization to ensure Chetak’s self-sufficiency within the country.

“Chetak electric is already a household name… our strategy is to achieve a clear number one position, which might not only be in India, but also in exports,” Bajaj told PTI during the launch event of the all-new Chetak C25

in Pune.
Rishabh Bajaj is the son of Bajaj Auto Managing Director Rajiv Bajaj.

He expressed that the goal is to establish Chetak as not just a domestic brand but also to expand its reach internationally and become the best-selling EV scooter.

With a price tag of ₹91,399 (ex-showroom Delhi), the new Chetak C25 will be available at all Chetak outlets throughout India.

Equipped with a 2.5 kWh battery, the Chetak C25 offers a range of up to 113 km, reaches a top speed of 55 km/hour, and achieves 80% charge in just 2.25 hours, making it ideal for everyday city use, according to the company.

Featuring premium elements like hill hold assist, guide me home, and disc brakes, the C25 enhances both safety and convenience, the company noted. The Chetak C25 complements a portfolio that caters to diverse mobility needs alongside the 35 and 30 Series.

Bajaj mentioned that the company has already been exploring various overseas markets in recent months and added, “We have several more lined up.”

While he did not specify the new international markets targeted for Chetak electric exports, he indicated, “As policies evolve and opportunities arise in those markets, we will capitalize on them.”

“With the increasing penetration of EVs (and) if it expands as it has in India, the company anticipates strong sales for Chetak in those regions as well,” he commented.

An industry report indicates that total EV sales in India are projected to reach 2.3 million units by 2025, signifying an overall EV penetration of 8% in new vehicle registrations.

Electric two-wheelers are leading the EV market, with approximately 1.28 million units sold (57% market share), followed by electric three-wheelers (L3 + L5) at around 0.8 million units (35% market share), while electric four-wheelers recorded around 1.75 lakh units, particularly in small and light commercial vehicle segments.

Electric two-wheelers are projected to achieve 6% penetration in 2025, with the top six OEMs capturing 89% of total EV sales, demonstrating significant market consolidation.

“The Chetak C25 signifies a notable shift in urban mobility trends—shorter commutes, congested streets, and a growing need for independent transportation. While its design is compact and contemporary, the core attributes remain distinctly Chetak: robustness, durability, and dependability.

“The C25 enables us to broaden the Chetak portfolio for a younger, more dynamic audience while maintaining the trust and confidence that the brand has represented for generations,” stated Eric Vas, President — Urbanite Business, Bajaj Auto Ltd.
