As boycott Turkey trends, Mukesh Ambani punishes Turkey by stopping sale of....

“Boycott Turkey” is currently trending across all major social media platforms in India. Several Indians are boycotting Turkish products. In addition, many prominent Indian universities, such as Jawaharlal Nehru University and Jamia Millia Islamia, have suspended their academic Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) with institutions in Turkey, citing national security concerns.

These decisions came amid a broader deterioration in India-Turkey relations, spurred by Ankara’s strong support for Pakistan and criticism of India’s recent strikes on terror camps across the border. Turkey’s alignment with Pakistan on key strategic and defence issues has triggered domestic calls in India for the boycott of Turkish products and tourism. Public anger intensified after it was revealed that Turkey had supplied advanced military technology, including drones, to Pakistan. The presence of these drones in Pakistan’s arsenal pointed to the deepening defence cooperation between Ankara and Islamabad — a relationship that is increasingly drawing scrutiny in New Delhi.

According to Economic Times reports, popular Indian shopping sites such as Myntra and Reliance-owned Ajio have stopped selling Turkish clothing brands. It is to be noted that Turkey and Azerbaijan supported Pakistan after India carried out Operation Sindoor—a military action to destroy terror camps in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir. That operation was India’s response to last month’s deadly terror attack in Pahalgam.

As per a report by Economic Times, Flipkart-owned Myntra, which holds exclusive rights to sell the Turkish brand Trendyol in India, has temporarily suspended the sale of all Turkish brands. This includes Trendyol, a top-selling international label for women’s western wear.

Myntra has paused sales of all Turkish brands, including Trendyol—a popular fashion label owned by Alibaba—for which it holds exclusive marketing rights in India, according to two industry insiders, reported Economic Times. Meanwhile, Reliance has also removed Turkish brands like Koton, LC Waikiki, and Mavi from its online store Ajio, with all related products now marked as out of stock.

While speaking to Economic Times,  one executive stated, “Myntra is reassessing its partnerships, pending further developments.” 

He added that it’s still unclear if or when these Turkish brands will be back. Similarly, Reliance has removed its Turkish clothing brands—like Koton, LC Waikiki, and Mavi—from Ajio. All their products are now showing as out of stock.
