Under the guidance of former Arsenal manager Unai Emery, Villa is currently enjoying an 11-match winning streak across all competitions and sits just three points behind Arteta’s squad in the league standings. Arsenal leads the chart, holding a two-point advantage over Manchester City.
“If you channel that motivation and hunger in the right way, absolutely,” Arteta stated to reporters on Monday when asked if revisiting the Villa match could encourage his players at the Emirates Stadium.
“We’ll review the game. I have some insights and areas where we need to improve. The way we lost was quite unfortunate, but we’ve also learned valuable lessons from it.”
Villa’s victories over Arsenal significantly impacted Arteta’s title aspirations for the 2023-24 season, as the London team has finished second in the league for the past three years, striving for their first Premier League title since 2004.
Arteta acknowledged that Villa is a legitimate title contender this season, although Emery has downplayed their prospects.
“They are certainly in the mix. Look at their performance and the consistency they have shown; credit is due for what Unai has accomplished with the club. They fully deserve recognition, as they are proving their worth on the pitch,” Arteta remarked.
