In a post on X, she wrote, “Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister garu, why am I under house arrest in my villa in Vijayawada? For what reason? Please inform the people of AP.” She tagged Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu, Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan, and the Andhra Pradesh police as well.
Sharmila also queried whether visiting her workplace at the PCC office was now considered a crime, expressing her concerns about governmental apprehension. “Is going to my workplace— the PCC office @INC_Andhra now a crime? Why are you attempting to infringe on our constitutional rights? What is your government afraid of?” she added.
Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister garu,
Why am I house arrested in my villa in Vijayawada? For what reason? Please tell the people of AP.
Is just going to my workplace—the PCC office @INC_Andhra now considered a crime? Why are you trying to curtail our constitutional rights? What is your government…

Previously, she urged the state government to finalize the Polavaram Project as outlined in Section 90 of the Andhra Pradesh Reorganisation Act of 2014, recognizing it as a national project.
Sharmila remarked that plans to reduce the project’s scale and storage capacity from 194 TMC (Thousand Million Cubic feet) to 114 TMC were a ‘gross injustice’.
In conversation with ANI, she stated, “Whether it’s Jagan Mohan Reddy or Chandrababu Naidu, they are colluding with the BJP, and everyone is conspiring to shrink the project size. This is a gross injustice. We insist that Chandrababu Naidu and PM Modi complete the project and execute it at the original capacity of 194 TMC.”
“We have gathered with the victims of the Polavaram Project. They are here to share how injustices are being committed against them. 106,000 families have sacrificed their lands to bring the Polavaram Project to fruition.”
“After nearly two decades, even 10% of these families have not received any benefits. Rehabilitation packages have been granted to fewer than 9,000 families, leaving many awaiting assistance from the government. Girijans from the Girija tribe have also given up their lands,” she added.
