Sacks announced that he will be joining President Donald Trump’s Council of Advisors on Science and Technology, a federal advisory group made up of industry and academic experts. As co-chair of this council, he will have the opportunity to make recommendations on a broader spectrum of technology issues beyond just AI, he noted.
Earlier this month, Sacks stated that the US should “declare victory and get out” of the Iran war, marking a rare instance of a prominent Trump administration figure advocating for withdrawal from the conflict.

Since the start of Trump’s second term, Sacks has been a significant presence in the White House. A seasoned Silicon Valley entrepreneur and investor, he is a partner at Craft Ventures, a firm he co-founded in 2017.
He was appointed to his position in December 2024, but US regulations limit special government employees to 130 days of work within any given 12-month period. This limit pertains to actual days worked rather than the overall duration of the appointment.
During his tenure as AI czar, Sacks oversaw a relaxation of the Biden administration’s restrictions on AI chip exports to China.
In his Bloomberg interview, Sacks expressed his intention to continue advancing Trump’s AI policy framework that was unveiled last week.
