Amazon to eliminate thousands of positions in a second round of layoffs within three months.

Tech giant Amazon is set to implement another round of layoffs, potentially affecting thousands, just three months after its last job cuts, as the company initiates a cultural overhaul.

According to Business Insider, the announcement of these layoffs could come as early as next week. A Reddit group for Amazon employees speculates that the cuts may be revealed on January 27 or 28. Conversations regarding January layoffs indicate that two employees from Poland were let go earlier this week.

“One of my colleagues and I were laid off today (EU). We were the only ones from our team working in this location,” a former employee from Poland shared.
While it’s unclear which departments will be impacted this time, the previous layoffs in October 2025 significantly affected operations in India.

The October layoffs in India touched various teams including Prime Video, devices and services, finance, global business services, competitor monitoring, and human resources. The majority of those affected were located in Bengaluru, with additional staff impacted in Chennai and Hyderabad.

This news follows several rounds of layoffs at Amazon that began in late 2022, resulting in approximately 30,000 job cuts worldwide across retail, AWS, devices, and human resources.
