Rank Movement: The latest Henley Passport Index for 2026 reveals that India has advanced five positions, reaching the 80th spot. While this shift improves mobility for Indian passport holders slightly, the country still lags significantly behind the top-ranking passports in global travel freedom.

Asian Access: Indian passport holders enjoy visa-free or facilitated entry to numerous destinations in Asia, including Bhutan, Nepal, Thailand, Indonesia, Malaysia, Maldives, Iran, Hong Kong SAR, and Macao SAR. African Routes: In Africa, Indian travelers can visit Kenya, Tanzania, Zimbabwe, Senegal, Mauritius, Seychelles, Mozambique, and Rwanda without prior visas or with simplified entry requirements. These locations enhance India’s overall access count, although visa criteria can vary and may include visa-on-arrival or electronic authorizations, influenced by host countries’ policies.
Middle East: In this region, Qatar allows visa-on-arrival for Indian passport holders, reflecting limited visa-free or simplified access compared to Asian countries or island nations.
