This year, a record 14,059 runners will be attempting the full marathon distance for the first time. There has also been a significant increase in participation for the Half Marathon and the Open 10K events.
Rajesh Aggarwal, Chief Secretary of the Government of Maharashtra, stated, “Over the past two decades, the Tata Mumbai Marathon has had a positive influence on both the physical health of individuals and the economic vitality of the city.”
“Besides benefiting the runners, it also supports airlines, hotels, and local businesses, acting as a major economic catalyst. The event unites Mumbai, bringing together participants from across India and around the globe as Mumbaikars for a few days. The Maharashtra Government and police are fully committed to ensuring safety, smooth operations, and an enjoyable experience for everyone,” he added.
This ongoing growth is evident in the rising number of female participants, an increase in timed runners, and the enhanced engagement of varied communities through the Dream Run, all reflecting the widespread acceptance of running across different demographics.
