CM Revanth Reddy: Government Substituted MGNREGA to Offer Low-Cost Labor to Corporations
Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy on Thursday accused the NDA government at the Centre of replacing the MGNREGA with VB G RAM G to provide cheap labor for large corporations, thereby denying the rural poor their right to work.

While speaking at a meeting with state Congress office bearers and other leaders, he emphasized that MGNREGA had effectively ended migration and bonded labor in rural areas, empowering workers to demand employment.

“Currently, labor is scarce for major industrialists like Adani and Ambani. If NREGA is abolished in villages, the rural poor will once again migrate to urban areas. When they come to cities, Adani and Ambani will have access to labor. (Prime Minister) Narendra Modi is conspiring to dismantle the rural employment guarantee scheme, aiming to turn us into slaves for corporations reminiscent of the British East India Company, and to make us bonded laborers,” stated Revanth Reddy.
He asserted that this is a scheme devised by corporate entities and executed by the BJP.

Reddy warned that Congress would oppose these anti-poor laws with the same vigor as demonstrated during the historic farmers’ protest against the now-repealed farm laws.

Pointing to the alleged confusion surrounding the initiative, CM Reddy questioned the foundational concept of VB-G RAM G.

“Where is this ‘Viksit Bharat’ (Developed India)?” he inquired.

“You (Modi) are crafting an India filled with crises. This law is designed to turn the poor into bonded laborers and slaves.” Reddy further claimed that the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) is a scheme to disenfranchise minorities, Dalits, adivasis, and the impoverished, ensuring their subservience to major corporations.
