Organizing a European Getaway: A Guide to Booking Tours and Activities in Indian Rupees

Snowfall Grinds Paris to a Halt as Ice Causes Travel Delays Throughout the City
Indian travellers looking to explore Europe can now conveniently book a range of popular attractions and experiences on a single platform using Indian Rupees, streamlining their itinerary planning and minimizing the need to navigate multiple foreign websites.

MakeMyTrip has incorporated offerings from various operators including Merlin Entertainments, Jungfrau Railway Group, Rail Europe, and Big Bus Tours into its Tours & Attractions platform. This includes experiences like the London Eye, Madame Tussauds, SEA LIFE aquariums, Switzerland’s Jungfrau Railway, and hop-on, hop-off city sightseeing tours in London, Paris, and Rome.

While Indian travellers previously had the option to pay in Rupees for select tour packages, the recent enhancement allows for standalone bookings from multiple operators all in one place, eliminating the hassle of currency conversion and separate bookings. Holiday packages on MakeMyTrip generally consist of six to eight pre-booked activities, with data indicating robust uptake of these experiences: approximately 20% of travellers opt for Big Bus tours, 30% book Jungfrau experiences, over 75% use Rail Europe tickets, and 20% choose Merlin attractions.

Jasmeet Singh, Chief Commercial Officer – Holidays & Experiences at MakeMyTrip, stated, “By uniting various European operators on a single platform, users can efficiently plan itineraries and pay in Indian Rupees without having to navigate through different websites or currencies.”

This update enhances the platform’s extensive inventory of over 2 lakh experiences spanning 1,100 cities worldwide, underscoring ongoing efforts to weave tours and activities into the travel planning process for Indian travellers.
