This test was carried out by researchers at China’s National University of Defence Technology on a 400-meter magnetic levitation track. A vehicle weighing approximately one tonne was accelerated to this record speed and then safely halted.

Footage released by China’s state broadcaster CCTV captures the train zipping past at an incredible speed, creating a faint misty trail behind it. The train hovers above the track powered by superconducting magnets that lift and drive it forward without any contact with the rails, effectively eliminating friction.
The electromagnetic acceleration technology showcased in this test could have applications in both space and aviation, while this achievement opens new avenues for future vacuum-pipeline maglev transport systems.
The team responsible for this innovation has dedicated a decade to the project, previously achieving a top speed of 648 km/h on the same track earlier this year.
