Robots won’t take your job, but someone skilled in AI might.
We’ve all seen the movies – AI takes control, humanity fights back, and chaos ensues. But here’s the unexpected twist: in reality, AI isn’t set to destroy your job – it’s here to protect it. While you’re caught in endless meetings and buried under emails, AI could be handling all the tedious tasks. What’s holding you back? Your reluctance to embrace it.

Jabra surveyed 4,200 knowledge workers and 1,800 decision-makers about how they believe AI will transform their work by 2025. According to the Jabra Great ExpectAItions Report 2024, while 90% of professionals are aware of AI, only 27% are using it in their workplaces. Just think of the untapped potential – it’s like knowing electric vehicles exist but still commuting on horseback. The AI revolution isn’t on the horizon – it’s already here.

AI is the personal assistant you never knew you needed
Let’s debunk the biggest myth: AI isn’t a rogue machine planning to replace you. It’s more akin to the ultimate office assistant, taking care of mundane, repetitive tasks so you can concentrate on what truly matters.

The report indicates employees spend 62% of their time on emails and 57% in meetings – classic busywork. Only 23% of their time is allocated to creativity and innovation – the efforts that drive progress.

AI isn’t about taking over jobs. It’s about alleviating your workload. Most of us wouldn’t mind passing off a few repetitive tasks each day.

The AI skills gap: ready to learn something today?

Although awareness is high, adoption is lacking. Why? Because many employees (and let’s be honest, a number of leaders too) don’t know how to use it effectively. Over 60% acknowledge they need to gain AI-related skills to remain competitive. There are experts ready to share their knowledge, and investing in them is invaluable.

Companies that emphasize AI training and upskilling are not just adapting – they are safeguarding their future. Those that don’t will lag behind.

Meetings, emails, and the decline of the keyboard

We’ve spent years perfecting our keyboard skills – learning shortcuts, improving typing speed – only to find our efforts might soon be unnecessary. One of the more surprising insights from the report is that the future of AI interaction is shifting from typing to voice commands. As AI’s ability to understand natural speech improves, we are moving towards a keyboard-free environment – where speaking is faster, simpler, and more efficient.

Currently, 35% of employees prefer voice input when interacting with AI. Speaking is simply quicker than typing. People desire seamless, human-like interactions – not clunky, manual ones. (Just to note, this was typed manually – but the allure of voice prompts is strong.) If your AI strategy doesn’t incorporate voice-first experiences, you’re already trailing behind.

AI is a productivity enhancer – and a wellness game changer

AI isn’t solely about efficiency – it’s about well-being. Data shows employees feel most drained by emails, meetings, and admin tasks, but are energized by creativity, strategy, and teamwork. AI can help shift this balance, automating tedious tasks so that people can engage in work they enjoy.

What does this imply for your company? Happier, more engaged teams that are also more productive. In a landscape where burnout costs billions, that’s a competitive edge few can afford to disregard.

The bottom line: AI isn’t optional – it’s inevitable

If you’re still undecided, here’s the hard truth: you don’t really have a choice.

Companies that adopt AI now will lead their industries in five years. Those hesitating will be left pondering why their competitors are progressing faster, achieving more, and attracting top talent.

So stop fretting about rogue robots and start focusing on groundbreaking efficiency. AI isn’t here to seize control – it’s here to enhance your work.
