MISSOULA, Mont. – The Sentinel Spartans are gearing up for the 2025 State AA Softball Tournament after a decisive victory over Butte in a best-of-three series.
The Spartans secured their place in the tournament with a notable sweep against the Bulldogs, including a thrilling ninth-inning victory featuring three home runs. They will face off against Belgrade on Thursday at 2:00 p.m., entering as the number four seed.
Sentinel Head Softball Coach Wade Sellers praised the team for their ongoing growth and determination throughout the season. He emphasized the team’s ability to overcome challenges, stating, “You know, we’re just getting started. You know, a lot of teams are peaked and we have room to grow. We still have more to give.” Sellers also highlighted the resilience of the junior varsity players who stepped up due to injuries, saying, “They stepped up today and proved that they can come in and compete with the rest of them.”
Senior outfielder Brooklyn Wright expressed her confidence in the team’s determination, “I think it shows our determination, our grit and our, like, want to win… Like, we we got in a little slump, but we are always, like, willing to push back.”
The Spartans are looking to channel their growth and grit into a championship edge as they prepare for the upcoming tournament.
