WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. (CBS12) — A hot summer is expected to bring an uptick in travel.
A new survey from AAA reveals that 60% of Floridians plan to take a trip this summer. The Auto Club says that is up from 56% last year, highlighting a continued upward trend in travel intentions.
“Despite economic uncertainties, Americans still prioritize vacations as an essential part of life,” said Debbie Haas, Vice President of Travel for AAA – The Auto Club Group. “Whether it’s a relaxing beach escape, an adventurous road trip or a cruise, people view summer travel as a vital way to invest in their well-being and create lasting memories.”

Here in Florida, 36% of Floridians take more vacations this summer, while there are about 45% that plan to take about the same number last year. However, AAA says 19% will more than likely take fewer trips with 56% of Floridians citing financial concerns and 41% worried about the economy.
Vacations people in the Sunshine State are taking:
- 43% – Beach Destination
- 36% – City/Major Metro Destination
- 27% – Theme Park
- 21% – Resort Vacation
- 16% – Ocean/Large Cruise
AAA says Florida vacations peak travel months are June and July, with 45% planning to travel in June and another 40% traveling in July.
