Neeraj Chopra Takes On Co-Ownership of UBS Athletics Kids Cup
Neeraj Chopra, a two-time Olympic medallist in javelin throw, became the co-owner of the UBS Athletics Kids Cup on Friday after serving as the programme’s Ambassador for the last two seasons.

The UBS Athletics Kids Cup is a grassroots initiative aimed at introducing sports to children through enjoyable, inclusive, and accessible competition. To date, it has engaged over 250,000 children from more than 2,500 schools across five cities.

“In the past two seasons, I’ve witnessed the significant impact of the UBS Athletics Kids Cup on children across schools,” said Chopra, who recently added a Commonwealth Games silver medal to his impressive collection, in a statement.

“Every child should have the chance to discover and showcase their talent. Becoming a Co-owner felt like the natural progression because I truly believe in the vision we are creating together.

“Our goal is to inspire one million children and motivate even more young individuals to engage with sports. I eagerly anticipate sharing my experiences with the kids, teachers, and schools since the more children participate, the higher the likelihood of developing future champions.”

With Chopra’s involvement as co-owner, the programme is set to enter a new phase of expansion, aiming to impact one million children across India. Beyond simply introducing youth to sports, the initiative seeks to foster confidence, discipline, and lifelong participation, thus contributing to a robust sporting culture from the grassroots level.

Daniel Schenker, CEO of Dspowerparts and Co-Founder of the initiative, remarked: “The strongest endorsement any programme can achieve is when a person with unparalleled experience in the field chooses to personally invest in its future.” Neeraj has recognized the impact, interacted with the children, and comprehends the vision. His commitment as a Partner sends a powerful message about what we can accomplish together in the coming years.” The UBS Athletics Kids Cup has swiftly ascended to become one of India’s foremost grassroots sports programmes, offering children opportunities to participate in enjoyable, inclusive, and accessible events. Nearly 50 percent of participants are girls, emphasizing the initiative’s dedication to making sports available to every child.
