US-Iran War Live Updates: Iran and Oman are close to finalizing a deal for a temporary shipping route via the Strait of Hormuz, which would allow Tehran to oversee vessels entering the Gulf and monitor outgoing traffic.
Nevertheless, this agreement alone will not fully restore operations in the vital energy corridor, where commercial movement is still significantly limited. Iran asserts that normal shipping can resume only if the US addresses broader demands, which include ceasing military actions, lifting sanctions, and providing compensation for war-related damages.
The Revolutionary Guard has also made it clear that reopening the strait is not linked to the negotiations with Oman.
In other news, firefighters have successfully put out a fire at a Saudi Aramco facility in Jizan, following a Houthi assault that previously shut down its refinery, which had a capacity of 400,000 barrels per day.
