US-Iran War Live Updates: The US has carried out airstrikes on Iran for the 13th night in a row while tightening its blockade around the country’s ports and coastal regions, marking the first time crude oil has surpassed $100 a barrel since May.
CENTCOM reported that the latest operation commenced at 6:45 pm ET, targeting Iranian military installations to mitigate threats from the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps to commercial shipping. They noted that US forces have redirected 12 commercial vessels and disabled one since the blockade was reinstated nine days ago.
Iranian state media IRIB has reported explosions in Ahvaz, Bandar Abbas, Omidiyeh, Qeshm, and Andimeshk, linking them to US missile strikes. Local authorities confirmed that two individuals sustained injuries in an attack on Allah-o-Akbar Hill in Bandar Abbas.
This ongoing escalation has prompted Brent crude to close above $101 a barrel as of Thursday.
