WhatsApp Update: New Features Include iPad Registration and Messaging in Vehicles

WhatsApp has rolled out a new range of features designed to enhance the cross-device experience, enabling users to utilize the messaging platform more fluidly across tablets, vehicles, and desktops.

The latest update brings direct account registration on iPads, a revamped interface for Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, integrated PDF viewing and annotation on desktop and web, and the option to share music from streaming services to WhatsApp Status.

A notable enhancement is the ability to create and register a WhatsApp account directly on an iPad. Previously, users had to link the iPad app to an existing WhatsApp account on their smartphones.

Now, users can establish a WhatsApp account directly through the iPad app without needing to pair with a phone first.

Enhanced CarPlay and Android Auto interface

WhatsApp has also updated its interface for Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

This improved experience enables users to:

• Listen and respond to messages hands-free
• Make calls via WhatsApp
• Check call history
• Access favorite contacts right from the vehicle’s infotainment display

These updates aim to facilitate WhatsApp usage while driving through compatible in-car systems.

PDF viewing and annotation tools

On WhatsApp Web and Desktop, users can now directly open PDF files within the app without the need to download them beforehand.

This update also introduces basic editing features, such as highlighting and annotations, supported by Adobe Acrobat.

Music sharing to Status feature

The platform now enables users to share tracks directly from Apple Music and Spotify to their WhatsApp Status.

Users can now share the songs they are enjoying with their contacts through Status updates, all without leaving the streaming applications.

WhatsApp has announced that these new features are beginning to roll out to users. Availability may differ based on the platform, app version, and region as the rollout continues.
