‘India evolving at an extraordinary rate’
At the ‘Kia Ora Modi’ community event, alongside New Zealand Prime Minister Christopher Luxon, PM Modi noted that India is evolving at an extraordinary rate despite global uncertainties.
“In the face of global challenges, the pace at which India is advancing is extraordinary. Today, India stands as the fastest-growing major economy in the world,” he stated, as reported by PTI.
Emphasis on India-New Zealand relations
PM Modi characterized the relationship between India and New Zealand as one founded on friendship, shared democratic values, and mutual commitment. He expressed assurance that the proposed bilateral trade agreement would enhance economic cooperation between the two countries.
He mentioned that the agreement would open new avenues for businesses in both India and New Zealand, further accelerating India’s journey towards becoming a developed nation.
The Prime Minister highlighted that India is presenting a new development model to the world, showcasing advancements in digital payments, drone technology, and the space sector. “Today, in India, billions of digital transactions are processed monthly through UPI. We are reaching new milestones in drone technology and the space economy,” he remarked.
First Indian Prime Minister to visit New Zealand in 40 years
Arriving in Auckland on Friday for the last leg of his three-nation tour, Modi is the first Indian Prime Minister to visit New Zealand in four decades.
Reflecting on his previous visit to the country before entering public life, Modi shared with the audience a muffler he received as a gift nearly 25 to 30 years ago.
On Saturday, PM Modi wrapped up his three-nation tour of Indonesia, Australia, and New Zealand, departing for India after concluding his visit to Auckland. During this trip, India and New Zealand upgraded their relationship to a Strategic Partnership and launched a roadmap to enhance cooperation across various sectors.
The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) posted on X, “A visit that deepened bonds, strengthened partnerships, and shaped a shared future. After completing meaningful discussions and overseeing key outcomes in New Zealand, PM Narendra Modi departs for India.”
