‘Honeymoon Coach’ Controversy: Staff Suspended, Investigation Launched After Viral Nandigram Express Decoration Clip
In the wake of a viral video showcasing the First AC cabin of the Nandigram Express decorated as a honeymoon suite, a railway staff member has faced suspension and a departmental inquiry is underway.

On Wednesday, the South Central Railway (SCR) confirmed that the private decorator responsible has been charged under relevant regulations for unauthorized entry into the coach.

According to a statement from SCR on X (formerly Twitter), a couple traveling on Train No. 11002 Nandigram Express on July 6, 2026 enlisted a private decorator online to embellish their First AC coupe. Officials discovered the decorator entered the coach at Jalna station without permission, marking it as a “serious lapse” in railway protocols.
Emphasizing that decisive action has been taken, the statement mentioned, “The staff member involved has been suspended, and a comprehensive departmental inquiry has been initiated. Appropriate actions will follow based on the inquiry’s outcomes.”

SCR also noted that the private decorator has been charged under relevant sections of the Railway Act for unauthorized entry, traveling without a valid ticket, and trespassing.

While Chief Ticket Inspector Girish Kumar was on duty during the incident, NDTV reported.

What was in the video?

The honeymoon controversy gained traction when social media users circulated clips of the tastefully decorated coupe, which featured balloons, floral arrangements, rose petals, and “I Love You” signs, prompting concerns regarding passenger safety and security aboard an operational train.

The viral video, initially shared by an event company based in Maharashtra, Rahat Room Decoration, highlighted the makeover of the First AC cabin in Train No. 110002 Nandigram Express, tailored for a newlywed couple traveling from Jalna.

The decorators mentioned the couple traveled by road from Aurangabad to Jalna, while their team entered the train earlier to set up the compartment before the couple boarded the Chennai-bound express at Jalna station.

The video depicted the coupe decorated with red-and-white balloons adorning the ceiling, floral garlands, bouquets, scattering thousands of rose petals on the floor, LED lights, and a prominent “I Love You” display.

The lower berth showcased a heart-shaped floral arrangement on freshly laid white linen, and the entrance was embellished with a pink beaded curtain featuring heart-shaped cutouts.

While the original Instagram post has since been removed, the video continues to spread extensively across social media platforms.
