This infrastructure, being developed under Reliance Intelligence, will establish what Ambani referred to as India’s “sovereign AI backbone,” targeting the challenges of limited and expensive compute resources within the country.
“Our primary focus is to overcome the main obstacle for AI in India today – the limited access and high costs of compute,” Ambani stated, noting that the facility is under construction in Jamnagar and will be entirely powered by clean energy from Reliance’s renewable energy projects in Kutch.
Reliance is also launching its initial fleet of NVIDIA GB300 GPUs. Chairman & MD Mukesh Ambani mentioned that the compute capacity equates to over 75,000 H100 GPUs on an AI-inference basis and can scale to more than 200,000 H100-equivalent GPUs when the first 120 MW infrastructure is fully implemented.

“This capacity places Reliance among the largest AI infrastructure platforms being constructed anywhere globally,” said the Chairman of Reliance Jio Infocomm.
This announcement signifies the next step for Reliance Intelligence, which Mukesh Ambani introduced last year as the group’s newest growth driver.
“I truly believe that India should not merely be a consumer of AI developed elsewhere. It must evolve into a creator, adopter, and global leader in AI,” the MD emphasized, adding, “Reliance Intelligence aims to provide AI to everyone, everywhere.”
The initiative seeks to build an AI infrastructure, platform, and services business for consumers, enterprises, and governments. The company has formed partnerships with Google, Meta, and NVIDIA as part of this effort.
AI services in 22 Indian languages
In addition to the compute infrastructure, Reliance Intelligence is creating AI services natively in 22 Indian languages, rather than relying on English translations, according to Akash Ambani.
“Whether it’s a Marathi farmer or a Tamil student, both will receive AI that communicates and responds in their language,” he remarked.
Describing it as “AI for India, AI by India, AI for the world,” Ambani noted that the initiative aims to generate India-originated innovations that can eventually cater to global markets.
The company plans to introduce a range of AI products, including JioBharatIQ, AI Vyapar, JioHealthIQ, JioLearnIQ, and JioKrishiIQ, focusing on consumers, merchants, healthcare, education, and agriculture.
Reliance Intelligence to ‘disrupt AI economics’
In his speech at the AGM, Ambani said, “Just as Jio made data incredibly affordable for every Indian, Reliance Intelligence will transform AI economics by making it significantly more cost-effective for every Indian by the end of this decade.”
The company asserts that these services are being developed with the principle that AI should be trustworthy, affordable, and user-friendly.
Jio embeds AI directly into its network
Alongside its push for AI infrastructure, Reliance also introduced a suite of AI-enhanced products and services throughout the Jio ecosystem.
Framing this move as a transition from AI applications to AI-empowered experiences, Akash mentioned that the company is incorporating artificial intelligence directly into the Jio network instead of requiring users to use standalone apps.
“Globally, AI has typically meant one thing – an app on your phone,” he remarked. “Today, Jio is doing something fundamentally different.”
According to Reliance Industries, Jio handles 20 billion minutes of voice traffic daily, making it one of the largest voice carriers worldwide. The company is leveraging this scale to integrate AI directly into voice calls.
Users will be able to engage an AI agent by saying “Hey Jio,” enabling it to join calls with their consent. The assistant can transcribe conversations, recognize up to 10 speakers in a conference call, generate summaries and action items, as well as perform tasks like ordering food, booking cabs, reserving tables, and scheduling meetings.
The service is expected to be available to Jio users later this year.
Reliance also announced that MyJio will develop into an AI-assisted personal advisor, while Jio TeleFrame will be introduced as an AI operating system for the home.
The announcements were made during Reliance Industries’ 49th Annual General Meeting, where investors are keenly monitoring updates on the proposed listing of Jio Platforms and the company’s new energy ventures.
