Cape Verde goalkeeper Vozinha's mother receives visa to attend World Cup and support her son.
Vozinha’s mother will finally witness her son play in the World Cup after receiving a visa to travel to the United States. This comes after Vozinha’s emotional revelation that she missed his incredible performance against Spain due to travel complications.

In their tournament opener, Vozinha was awarded Cape Verde’s player of the match, having made seven crucial saves to help secure a remarkable 0-0 draw against the European champions in Atlanta.

However, the joy of the 40-year-old goalkeeper was dampened when he disclosed that his mother, Ana Candida Evora, was unable to see his impressive outing because of a visa issue.
Following his heartfelt disclosure that gained attention online, the U.S. State Department intervened, with officials stating that their visa team in Praia was actively assisting Evora and ensuring she received the required services before confirming her travel approval.

A State Department official informed reporters, “Consistent with all policies, procedures, and standards, full steam ahead for travel for the game.”

Evora is now set to watch her son when Cape Verde takes on Uruguay in their second World Cup group match in Miami on Sunday.

Cape Verde was among several countries whose citizens previously faced requirements of posting bonds up to $15,000 to gain entry to the U.S. under President Donald Trump’s immigration policies, although this requirement was later lifted for World Cup ticket holders.

Nevertheless, the previous high costs had led Evora to abandon her plans to travel to Atlanta.
