Nicholls Comes Back to New Zealand Team Following Williamson's Retirement
New Zealand has brought back Henry Nicholls to bat at number three after Kane Williamson’s retirement from international cricket, captain Tom Latham announced on Tuesday, just a day before the second test against England at the Oval.

Williamson left the scene as New Zealand’s leading run-scorer at 35, having amassed over 19,000 international runs while guiding the team through its most fruitful period across all formats.

“It’s a fantastic opportunity for him to return to the squad in a position he has filled for Canterbury back home,” Latham told the press.
“What’s great about Henry is his ability to adjust to different situations. He has batted from the top to the middle throughout his international journey, and he will do what’s needed for the team.”

Nicholls, 34, last played tests against Zimbabwe last year and has accumulated 58 caps. He now carries the responsibility of taking the number three spot after England gained a 1-0 lead in the three-match series with a 115-run win within four days at Lord’s.
