Mumbai Cricket Association launches talent scouting and development division for the 2026-27 season.
The Mumbai Cricket Association announced the creation of its talent research development wing for both men’s and women’s cricket for the 2026-27 season.

Former Mumbai cricketer Sanjay Patil will lead the men’s division, while the women’s section will be managed by ex-India player Laya Francis, as stated by the MCA.

“The chairpersons of all selection committees will regularly meet with the TRDO Wing to evaluate talent identification, player development, and long-term cricketing strategies,” the MCA mentioned in a statement.
MCA president Ajinkya Naik remarked, “The TRDO Wing represents a vital move towards enhancing the talent pathway in Mumbai Cricket. It will improve our grassroots development programme, facilitate better identification of emerging talent, and help create a robust future for Mumbai Cricket.”

Former India captain and MCA cricket advisor Dilip Vengsarkar expressed hope that this system would recognize talent from every corner of the governing body’s jurisdiction.

“As cricket continues to flourish across Mumbai and its suburbs, this initiative will assist in spotting talent throughout MCA’s jurisdiction, ensuring that deserving players do not miss out on opportunities,” he added.
