India advises citizens in Iran to return home and refrain from traveling there.
India has updated its advisory for Iran, urging citizens to refrain from traveling to the country and advising those already present to leave using available transportation options.

In an advisory released on Monday, the Embassy of India in Tehran indicated that it was reinforcing its previous guidance in light of the recent developments in the region.

“In light of the recent developments in the region, the Embassy reiterates its previous recommendation for all Indian Nationals to avoid any travel to Iran,” the embassy stated.

The mission further requested that Indians currently in Iran exit the country. “Indian Nationals presently in Iran are also advised to leave the country by available means of transport,” it mentioned.

The updated advisory comes amid ongoing tensions in the region. On Monday, Israel conducted airstrikes in central and western Iran following missile attacks originating from Iran.

Previously, on April 7, India had recommended that its nationals in Iran remain in place for 48 hours as the security situation developed.

As per official estimates, approximately 9,000 Indians, including students, were in Iran when the conflict intensified. Nearly 1,800 Indian nationals have since returned to India.
