A high-ranking delegation led by the chief of Pakistan’s army recently engaged in talks with Iranian representatives about the possibility of resuming negotiations between Tehran and Washington.
The White House has indicated that Islamabad might host the next round of discussions. Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt expressed optimism that ongoing diplomatic efforts could contribute to resolving the existing conflict.
“We are optimistic about the chances of reaching an agreement,” she stated during a press briefing, describing the Pakistan-mediated conversations as “productive and ongoing.”
Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi reaffirmed Tehran’s dedication to seeking peace following his meeting with Pakistan Army Chief Asim Munir.
Meanwhile, regional tensions remain at a peak. Iran’s military has warned that it may disrupt shipping routes in the Red Sea, the Gulf, and the Sea of Oman if the United States persists with its naval blockade of Iranian ports, according to Al Jazeera.
The US military has intercepted several vessels attempting to depart Iranian ports since the blockade’s initiation. The US Central Command confirmed that these actions have effectively stalled Iran’s maritime trade.
Military operations also resumed on Israel’s northern front. Israeli airstrikes in southern Lebanon resulted in the deaths of four paramedics and injuries to six others during a response mission near Nabatieh, as reported by Al Jazeera.
