West Bengal Elections: ECI Directs the Transfer of 12 Officers from Kolkata Police Prior to Polls
The Election Commission of India (ECI) has reassigned 12 officers within Kolkata Police and West Bengal Police ahead of the upcoming elections, officials reported.

In Kolkata Police, numerous senior officials have been shifted from critical roles. DIG, CID Soma Das Mitra has been relocated and appointed as Joint Commissioner (Crime), Kolkata Police, they mentioned.

Sudip Sarkar, previously serving as DIG (Personnel), has been appointed as Joint Commissioner (Headquarters), Kolkata Police.
DIG of the Special Task Force, Debasmita Das, has taken on the role of Joint Commissioner (Intelligence), Kolkata Police.

The Election Commission has also dismissed the Deputy Commissioners of Kolkata Police’s North, South, East, and South-East divisions.

VSR Ananthanag has been designated as Deputy Commissioner (South), while Pradip Kumar Yadav has been appointed as Deputy Commissioner (North).

Saikat Ghosh, formerly the DC of Bhangar Division, has been transferred to DC, South-East Division.

Prashant Choudhury, SP of the Counter Insurgency Force, has been made DC (East), Kolkata Police.

Additionally, the commission has implemented transfers of various officers across several police districts and commissionerates within the state, added the officials.
