Iran's Foreign Ministry Tells CNBC-TV18 That Tehran Has Communicated Requests Through Pakistan

Tehran has communicated its demands to the US through Pakistan shortly after the latter introduced a peace proposal to resolve the conflict in West Asia, according to Iran’s Foreign Minister’s Office speaking to CNBC-TV18.

“We have organized and formalized our own set of demands…A ceasefire could provide the opposing side with the chance to regroup and continue its actions,” the office stated.

These comments come as the international community awaits responses from the US and Iran regarding the peace proposal, which reportedly suggests a 45-day ceasefire before both parties agree to fully end the conflict.

Pakistan has taken on a significant role as a mediator in the ongoing warfare in West Asia, which has claimed thousands of lives over the past month.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif had previously suggested holding talks in Islamabad and has now presented proposals to the leaders of the warring nations aimed at ceasing hostilities and reopening the Strait of Hormuz, as reported by Reuters and AP citing sources; however, there has been no official confirmation from Pakistan.

Iran remains skeptical about US claims that they rescued a pilot in Isfahan, considering it might be a deceptive tactic. “The possibility that the ‘pilot rescue in Isfahan’ was a ploy to capture Iran’s enriched uranium cannot be overlooked,” a source from the office told CNBC-TV18.

The office also suggested potential vessel movements in the Strait of Hormuz, which Iran has closed since the conflict erupted on February 28, triggering a global energy crisis.

“Discussions with Oman are concentrating on establishing a protocol to ensure safe passage of vessels through the Strait of Hormuz,” the office mentioned.
