Venu Srinivasan, the Chairman Emeritus of TVS Motor, has stepped down from Bai Hirabai Charitable Trust amid debates concerning trustee qualifications, according to sources for CNBC-TV18.

 

Bai Hirabai Charitable Trust is among the smaller allied trusts affiliated with Tata Trusts. 
 
Srinivasan, a noted Indian industrialist appointed after the late Ratan Tata sought legal advice on the induction of R Krishna Kumar.

 

As per sources, Srinivasan chose to resign after Mehli Mistry raised concerns, despite there being a precedent for such trustee appointments.

 

Mistry contends that trustees should be of the Parsi Zoroastrian faith and must have permanent residency in Mumbai, according to the sources.
