India Requires Digital e-Arrival Card for International Travelers Starting April 1
Beginning April 1, 2026, India will implement a mandatory digital e-Arrival card for foreign nationals and Overseas Citizens of India (OCI) cardholders, phasing out paper disembarkation forms after a six-month transition period where both formats were accepted.

The digital e-Arrival card, launched in October 2025, must be submitted within 72 hours before arriving in India. It serves as a data collection and security measure to gather essential travel information, such as entry details, visit purpose, and stay information.

Travellers will need to input their name, nationality, passport details, contact information, flight specifics, and reason for the visit while completing the form.
The card can be submitted via the Bureau of Immigration website, the Indian visa online portal, or the Su-Swagatam mobile app. After submission, travellers will receive a QR code that must be shown at immigration for verification.

This requirement is applicable only to foreign nationals and OCI cardholders; Indian citizens are exempt from completing the form.
