Our editors are always on the hunt for the latest home, garden, and food trends. And while many of them make their way to the pages of our magazine, some things are just too good not to share right away. That’s why, each month, our editors collect the ideas we’ve spotted and loved to share with our readers.
From the ‘Jam Girl Summer’ trend to home decor ideas inspired by the season’s hottest travel spots, these are the ideas and items our team can’t stop talking about.

On Trend: Colorful Hardware
Metallic and black hardware will always be in style, but there’s something about a color-coated cabinet pull that adds a little something extra to a kitchen or bathroom. They’re available in dozens of colors and styles, but we’re especially loving this ’80s-retro collection from Hawkins New York.

The Banana Coffee Trend
We’re going bananas for the banana-in-coffee trend (especially me, who whips up a weekly loaf of banana bread). I’m obsessed with our Salted Maple Banana Bread Syrup for adding to iced coffee, whipping into cold foam, and drizzling over oatmeal.”

Jam Girl Summer
This is one TikTok food trend our staff can’t stop talking about. Creators have found dozens of ways to repurpose empty jam and jelly jars, affectionately referring to their collection of glass vessels as a jam jar army. Our favorite element of the trend is using jam jar that’s almost—but not quite—empty, so that a bit of the jam flavor becomes infused in whatever you’re making. Use it to shake up flavored iced coffees and fruity-inspired spring matchas, or pour in olive oil and vinegar for a tasty homemade vinaigrette. We particularly love using this trend with Bonne Maman jars—not only do we love their jam, the iconic red plaid lids are so on-brand for BHG and our iconic Red Plaid Cookbook.

Steal This Look
Looking at this patio at Savannah’s Hotel Bardo, we can practically feel the sun on our face and drink in our hands. That’s thanks to the design firm Left Lane’s deliciously summery—and surprising—palette of lemon yellow, soft pink, and saturated peach. While the look is anchored by a custom mural by artist Julu, it can be scaled down to backyard proportions: Try mixing pillows in crisp yellow and white stripes and bolder abstract prints. If you have a pergola, a few long, colorful curtains can complete the vacation vibes.

‘90s Nostalgia: Paper Chains
“I first saw paper chains popping up online around the holidays and I was instantly obsessed! I had to try them out myself. I chose a color scheme, cut strips of paper, then glued them together. They’re such an easy way to add a touch of whimsy and nostalgia. And I’m so glad they’ve stayed for all kinds of occasions (not just the winter holidays). My tip for hanging them: hot glue! I used a dab of hot glue in each spot where I wanted it to hang on the wall for a secure, yet temporary, hold. When it was time to take them down, the glue came right off without pulling up paint or leaving residue. Test on an inconspicuous area first though—not all walls are created equal. To store, hang them on a clothing hanger to keep them neat without squishing them.”
